I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing and peaceful "semi-honeymoon" than the three days we just had in
Maryville, Tennessee at the
Chilhowee Mountain Retreat. Seriously, if you are looking for a place to get away just for a little while, this is it.

Actually, the minute we got back home was the minute I wanted to go back to the peace and quiet of the mountains.
We arrived late Monday, checked out the view of the mountains, which was the last time we would see them from our room,

and headed to a local brewery for dinner. Of course, Greg bought two growlers and a pint glass, which he buys at every micro-brew we stop at. I already know how his "man cave" will be decorated a few years down the road.

We brought our bikes in the hope of riding, but that didn't happen. It rained the entire time we were there, but we got to see a lot of the Great Smoky Mountain Park along with all the tourist areas like Pigeon Forge and
Gatlinburg.
The best part was the food. Mary and Tim, the
proprietors did an amazing job cooking up simple, pleasant yet delicious breakfasts.

I really didn't need to eat for the rest of the day. We spent most of our time lounging around in bed or in the hot tub. The second night we were there, we enjoyed chatting with another couple visiting from Knoxville and chatting with the owners. Turns out Tim retired from 30 years as a police officer a few years ago. Even served as a Public Information Officer for awhile. We enjoyed sharing our "news" stories.
Though only a few days, the trip was exactly what we were looking for. Neither of us have ever stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, but we will likely do it again. For now though, it's starting life as a married couple, moving into our house and just seeing what the future has to hold from here.
